"In chronic conditions like diabetes… it’s a lifetime commitment to taking care of that illness, and it’s a commitment not only by the patient, but by the physician as well, to work together to improve their health."

Did You Know?

20% of patients with diabetes don't properly monitor their blood sugar levels. On day-to-day basis, high levels can cause tiredness, blurred vision and cause more frequent illness -- and increase the risk of serious complications.

Measuring Health Care Quality

State and federal health care agencies  increasingly require health care organizations to measure and publicly report their performance on nationally recognized standards of quality care. Nonprofit organizations also have joined efforts to improve the quality and value of health care.

Measuring helps hospitals and other health providers understand gaps in good care so they can address them, and publicly reporting provides additional motivation to improve.

For health care consumers, health care quality reports provide information they can use to be sure they are getting the care that is associated with the best outcomes.
