Preferred vendors for electronic health records selected

The Ohio Health Information Partnership, or OHIP, has selected five "preferred vendors" for electronic health records:

► Allscripts Professional
► eClinicalWorks Unified EMR/PM Solution, version 8
► e-MDs Solution Series 6.3.0
► Next Gen Healthcare EHR
► Sage Intergy Suite 6.0

OHIP is a non-profit organization created to help Ohio providers adopt and implement health information technology. All five have discounted rates, favorable contract terms and additional technical support.

Providers are not required to use the preferred vendors to particpate in OHIP programs or to be eligible for incentive payments. Others may better suit practices' needs.
