Region-wide, we're improving, but there's still a lot to do.

Our fifth Community Health Checkup report on diabetes covers 2009, and includes information on 45 primary care practices, and over 380 doctors, providing care to nearly 26,000 patients with diabetes at one of the eight Greater Cleveland health systems reporting their performance to Better Health.

In 2009, according to our diabetes measures, just under half (48%) of our diabetes patients got the care they needed.  Back in 2007, this was only 39%. Also, two out of five (40%) diabetes patients in 2009 were in control of their key outcomes.  This is a modest improvement from the 37% we reported in 2007.

We also continue to see large differences between diabetes patients across different types of insurance, race/ethnicity, education and income.  To explore these results, use the sorting features next to the graphs at the bottom of the page.
